Fruit and Granola Parfaits

FRUIT SAUCE: If you wish to have a fruit sauce in your parfait rather than just plain fruit, follow the steps below.

You will need

1 cup fresh or frozen fruit

½ cup water (only if using fresh fruit)

2 T honey

2 T sugar

2 T lemon juice

2 T water and 1 T cornstarch

Combining these ingredients into a sauce only takes a few steps. Start by adding your fresh or frozen fruit to a saucepan. Then, add 1/2 cup water to the fruit ONLY if it is fresh!! It is important to note that you will only need to add water to the fruit if it is fresh since the ice from frozen fruit will naturally contribute its own water as it heats.

Just fresh blueberries and water are all you need to make a great fruit sauce!

Turn the heat setting to medium/high heat and stir. Then, add honey, sugar, and lemon juice to the fruit. You will allow this to lightly boil and simmer for about 5 minutes. Lastly, reduce the heat to medium-low. Combine water and cornstarch well, as this will thicken the sauce. Add this mixture to the saucepan and stir it in very well, continuing to stir off and on for about 5 more minutes.

Adding cornstarch and water, a simple thickener for almost any sauce!

Once finished, remove from heat and allow to cool to thicken even more.
